Embellish! Home Decor

Today we are visiting the home decor store Embellish. Embellish is owned and operated by Lesley Zurrer located in downtown Duncan, B.C. Embellish is not your average home decor store. It's creative, beautiful and enchanting which definitely reflects Lesley who has a flare for style.
You will find unique, elegant one of a kind pieces from 40's retro furniture to reproduction french country pieces. Lovely garden ornaments and stylish vignettes dripping with chandeliers everywhere. Esquisite jewellery, artwork and hand made pillows all by local artisans. Remember my last post about my love of french milled soaps? Well Lesley has a great selection with lovely bath salts as well. I'm gonna have to come back and do some serious shopping here.

Triple Milled French Soaps

There is nothing I like better than good quality soap. French, Italian, English triple milled soap is heavenly. Once you've tried it there's no going back to dove or dial! I believe it is a luxury we all can afford. The boxes that these soaps come in are a work of art. I have a hard time disposing of them. Mostly I keep them and use them for display. I have this pretty antique dish that I put my soap in. Simple little luxuries to start or end your day.
Just looking at these soap boxes make me feel good. Pure eye candy for the soul. My ten year old son has even grown an appreciation for this fine soap.

As I end this post I want to thank all of my followers and visitors. All of your wonderful comments always warm my heart. I am new to this blogging world and still have so much to learn. Hopefully in the coming months my blog will be filled with more creativity and inspiration for all of you!

Feeling Pink and Vibrant

I am feeling tall...fluid...elegant and pink. The end of a long week with lots
of inspiration for our current abode. Plans of painting everything creamy whites,
heavenly neutrels with touches of pink. We have been here three months now and it is time to create a more elegant home for my family. Even though it is a rental there is no reason why we have to live with the previous owners colour choices. My head is spinning with so many wonderful ideas of what can be done here. Looking at all my favourite things it gives me inspiration and lots of motivation. Today is the first day of spring break and after the two weeks I will be taking before shots and jump right in to transforming the rooms into something only to be described as heavenly....

Lovely old homes and beautiful landscapes...

This is one of my favourite homes in the valley. It is so french country ...something you would see in the south of France. Today I had to stop and photograph it. Charming, old and just beautiful!

Lovely landscaping and look at the fence painted a striking black. The gardens already look good and it's still winter.

This is a newer home but has been built with charm and character. The stone wall really makes the setting.

Another one of my favourite homes here. The valley has some

lovely old stucco homes. It's like coming across a hidden jewel

when you spot one.

Taking a scenic drive along Maple Bay. Hard to believe it is only the beginning of March. Back home everyone is still freezing and buried under mounds of snow!

My husband and I took our dog Pilot for a wonderful hike up Mt. Tzouhalem. The weather was fantastic! Warm and sunny and not a soul in sight. Such majestic views. These trees have been here for hundreds of years. So many different paths to explore on the mountain.

Pilot is a true working breed she loves the trails!

As I was taking photos this adorable rabbit came out of nowhere.

What a perfect way to end this post!

An Enchanting Cottage

My husband and I were out for a Sunday drive when we came across this enchanting cottage in Osborne Bay. We just had to stop and take a look around this amazing property so hidden from the world. I always have my camera on me when we go for drives because I am always coming across so many beautiful things to photograph. The home is on at least three acres most of which is gardens and a lovely pond. The property takes you straight to the ocean. Whoever owns this little jewel is very fortunate. How I would love to own a home and property like this. The house exterior is wood clapboard painted a very nice green. It really blends in with the landscape.

Look at this front porch! Isn't it beautiful? Up above is a balcony coming from the bedroom. A summer sleeping porch!

Perfect hardwood floors on the porch.

The driveway and patio is all brick with moss growing in all the cracks. I could visualize myself sitting here in the summer with a glass of wine. Just a beautiful spot for urns overflowing with herbs and flowers.

A tree fort! Who says a tree fort is only for children? Your never to old to enjoy the solitude of nature. I think this is the perfect getaway...to just climb up ...leave your worries behind with a good book!

There is a pond at the back with this romantic statue in the middle.

The picket fence really adds to the quaintness of the property. Like something out of the cotswolds in England. Wouldn't it be beautiful to plant masses of hydrangeas all across the fence line?

This tiny cottage at the front of the drive would be such a wonderful place to sell antiques. Or you could turn it into a guest cottage. Hopefully when the time comes when we are looking for a home something like this will be available. Until then I will just dream and visualize myself in my own enchanting cottage!

A day in Cowichan Bay

This is something you don't see back home in Eastern Canada...out door market in the winter. I get all my fresh fruit and produce here every Friday. Wonderful market with lots of variety.

This is one of the very last one lane bridges in Cowichan Station. Really cool! You feel like you have gone back in time. My husband has been taking me all over Cowichan Valley. There is so much to see. Hidden gems await me at every turn. It will definitely take a year before we can decide where to settle down. Until then we are having so much fun sight seeing and just exploring.

My poor Sam got a very bad sprain at school. We had so many things planned for the weekend and then his mishap. He has been such a good sport about the whole thing never complaining even when he's been in alot of pain. He sees the doctor again in a weeks time hopefully there is not alot of damage. We are going to Disney Land for March break something he has been looking forward to for a very long time.

We will just have to get him a wheelchair if he is not healed properly...but then that means first in line...doesn't it?!

This is the Bay where my husband Raymond learned how to fish. He is really happy and grateful that I agreed to move back to his hometown. Everyday I see more things to love and learn about.

I have been living on Vancouver Island for about two months now and the culture shock is starting to ware off. This is the middle of February and I just can't believe the weather. To think just last winter I was walking Pilot in freezing temperatures , tons of snow fighting a bone chilling wind accompanied by grey skies. It really is wonderful to be living in area with a mild climate. Waking up every morning I expect to see a snow covered ground instead I hear birds singing, the sun is shining and so much green everywhere. I feel very blessed to be able to have this experience.
