Hello everyone!
I have been living
with the previous owner's
pink back splash a little too long...
now I LOVE pink...but the
black splash was
really
getting
to
me!!
Noise pollution...it
was stressing me out.
I
spend ALOT
of time in this kitchen
and
it is a very dark room.
I know by this photo you see sun streaming in
but this is very rare and it is just a small area
that sees any day light.
that was it
I had enough ...I was going to paint it white!
I still had half a gallon
of paint
left from
Sam's room...
The colour
was just what
I
wanted...cotton fluff...perfect!
Every time I looked at this
diamond pink back splash
it reminded me of a circus...
not
the look
I want
in a
kitchen..
Pamela- I think it looks great. I paint tile all the time..I know it is a big No-No...but I don't care...if it works- do it! It does make the kitchen look brighter...a lot brighter. Hope your day was wonderful! Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteFantastic Pamela...made a world of difference!
ReplyDeleteGee, I wonder what it would look like witht those cupboards painted white? I am sure I could round up some paint around here! It looks fabulous!!!!
ReplyDelete...wow...what a difference!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job...love love it...you are so right ..just a wee bit of effort makes all the difference in the world....happy valentine's sweet friend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove it looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's looks so much brighter and lighter. I love the red cabinets.
ReplyDeleteI think you are quite clever and have the loveliest home. Enjoy !

It makes a wonderful difference in your kitchen. Isn't it funny how something can bug us just so long and then it has to get fixed - NOW?
ReplyDeleteWow - what a difference. I have painted tiles before and it lasted for years. I gather from the pic on your sidebar thst your dream kitchen is white, but I really love your red litchen cabinets. I think I have the exact same plate hanging on my wall! x Sharon @ Roses and Rust
ReplyDeleteSorry - I meant kitchen not litchen!
ReplyDeletePainting the backs splash made a huge difference. It looks so much nicer now.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela, what a wonderful transformation, it looks great!!!
ReplyDeletehugs~~ Daphne

Wow...that looks GREAT! My kitchen is in the center of the house, so I get very little light! I know what you mean about wanting to brighten it up all you can!
ReplyDeleteThe White tiles look fantastic, don't you just love a project that has a huge positive impact.
ReplyDeleteDonna xx
Much better Pamela! I think it is a lot brighter. Love the transferware too.
ReplyDeleteWow ~ what a difference~! I think it looks great. I wonder what the cabinets would look like white? ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo amazing that such a little (and inexpensive) change could make such a big difference! The kitchen looks bigger, too.
ReplyDeletePamela, that looks great. I never noticed the pink tile before.
ReplyDeleteYou are to funny Pamela... It looks great, I see Ina she is one of my favs...
ReplyDeletePattie
Hello Pamela,
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! It really does make a difference. I will be painting mine white again too. When the kitchen was painted last year, the painters painted my brick backsplash a caramel color but I have never really been happy with it and decided last weekend enough was enough!
Have a great day!
~ Tracy
The white does look great. I never really noticed the circus tiles before, but now that you pointed it out, they were a little over the (big)top. I think the white allows your plates to be more noticable.
ReplyDeleteyes, SO much better! I'm thinking the same thing as Vintage Gal... about the cabinets being white? and glossy -- it would reflect light and brighten things up even more!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transformation! I didn't know you could paint tile! It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Love the tile painted white, you did a great job - but don't change the cabinets, the red is lovely. You could replace a few of the cabinet door panels with glass (I did this and love it) which also brings reflected light into the kitchen and takes away some of that big expanse of wood. I have my glassware and white china stacked behind the glass, not cans of food or ugly kitchen bits!
ReplyDelete.........and, about adding a chandelier Pamela!!! I really am thrilled with mine in the kitchen - it gives so much sparkling light, such a difference than the old dull fixture.
Happy week - sending some of the warm sunshine to you!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through another.
Anyway love what you did with the paint. It looks so good and what a difference a little paint makes.
Wow!!
Have a great day!!
Rosemary
Oooh, I love your Red French Kitchen--it is fabulous!!!

Fresh and bright! Looks fantastic. I love those quick fixes that make such a difference. It usually leaves me wondering why I didn't do it sooner!
ReplyDeleteHow nice it looks...fresh and new, I agree I think it brightens up the room!! Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteLorene
Wow! That's tile and you painted it? It looks really nice! I don't think I would have even thought about doing that. Oh what you can learn from reading blogs! LOL
ReplyDeleteLovely! Great idea. It really transformed the look.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a difference that little change made. Everything looks brighter. It gives the eye a place to rest, and now i can actually see your pretty white ceramic accents and your pretty plate.
ReplyDeleteCindy
What a huge difference that makes. Great job!
ReplyDeletethe white looks super and really adds light...it shows off the cabinets better too. I know that it might sound a little strange but I have mirrored back splashes and I love them. Thank you for visiting me and leaving such a nice message. (-:
ReplyDeleteI love it! It looks fantastic! I bet you are wondering why you didn't make that change months ago...that's what I do!! Your kitchen looks gorgeous with the white backdrop! Angie xo
ReplyDeletePamela - it was the perfect solution! Turned out wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteKathy
I like it too. Brightens the area. I think I am gonna try a paint treatment on my cabinets in my bathroom to open it up a bit.
ReplyDeleteBetsy

Great post, right about now everyone is craving light, bright, sunshine, and your kitchen paint job delivers! Thanks for sharing, and giving us all ideas!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam! Thanks for all the nice comments on my blog. I don't run across many Rosamunde Pilcher fans...I so wish she would write another book but I don't think she will. Great job on this backsplash by the way...it was really nice to meet you and I'm following you now. I have added you to my blog roll so I will be able to keep up with your new posts. The Bokeh thing was really fun...I'm struggling a bit with my photo skills but that was really easy. Blurry isn't very hard! Have a great rest of the day. Will chat again soon.
ReplyDeleteIt really did open things up, Pamela! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to paint the tile. It looks great! I love your red cabinets too! What a gorgeous kitchen! ~Delores
