Feminine , pink and proudly girly!

Yesterday I spent the day antiquing with my friend Melissa from Cranberry Cottage. While we

poked around these stores we discussed how so many furniture stores carry boring

furniture and accessories.

Everything today is brown, grey, black or taupe. Boxy styles , sleek

nothing frilly or curvy. No sex appeal. It is like they have all gone anti-feminine. I went

to a new furniture recently and after 5minutes walked out. NO soft colours of white, pink

or velvet scrumptious textures either.

Melissa has just done two posts on this very

subject and I urge you to check it out!

So go here Cranberry Cottage it is an interesting

read!

Melissa and I both love Pink, white and all things feminine. One of

the main reasons we hit it off. Like her I used to be ashamed of loving all things

Pink and being very girly. But now at 44 who cares! I am not afraid to celebrate

and show off my feminine side.

In my home which I share with my husband and eleven year old son you will find

all things girly!

You will find touches of pink everywhere. My husband is really okay with it! Really... he

even bought me pink lingerie for Christmas last year. He knows his girl!

I love hearts too! Hearts and paper roses I made this heart arrangement when

I could not find what I was looking for.

Who doesn't love old oil paintings of roses.

And I am all for one to celebrate my romantic side and express it here on

my sleeping porch.

All the women I have met on these beautiful blogs also express a love for

antique linens and all things romantic. So as Melissa and I were saying why

do all the furniture and home stores carry such masculine pieces?

One of the best things for me about being a girl is all the make-up!! I love

displaying my brushes too.

The boutique stores seem to be the only places left that understand our desires

to have our home lovely, romantic and pretty.

But just because I proudly claim to be a girly girl with a love for pink does

not make me weak. After all I would never have the stamina to hike a mountain

everyday with my Pilot girl if that was the case!

Celebrate who you are and don't let anyone deter you from expressing your

tastes. Mr. Brick, Lazyboy , Leons etc. do you get the picture?!!!

Thanks for visiting me!!

And remember life is a journey ....so make it beautiful!

Pamela xo

  5. Pamela- I love your perfect pink and pretty post. (say that 10 times fast). I always love coming here and visiting. Although MyHero is not a pink sort of guy and doesn't like florals I have spots of it in our house here and there. I think we can all carve out a bit of feminine beauty when we really want to...and others can find it here and in other beautiful and feminine posts. Hugs- Diana

  7. Hi Pam, I'm back again, forgot to add that it's so nice that your husband doesn't mind how you decorate, my husband is the same way, he loves the way I have our home decorated, and I think it's very feminine, the only thing he has requested that I don't decorate his bar/Den room, which is fine with me, we just have his drag racing, fishing, and golf things in that room! No GIRLY THINGS ALLOWED! He even tells me sometimes that I need to get my girly magazine (decorating mag.) off of his coffee table, and I just laugh at him.. Daphne

You are the girliest woman I have ever met!
You are a breath of fresh air.

I have never met anyone who appreciates and adores the finest detail of things. Also someone who knows and loves french soap.

I will never forget your AWE when we went into that little French Store on Oakbay.....you were breatheless. :)

  9. Thank you every one for your wonderful comments! And thank you too Melissa! When can we go back to French Vanilla store in Victoria? Everyone must visit this beautiful store!!

  10. Why don't you girls start your own store together: "All Things Girly"? You could sell lovely 'French Country' inspired niceties for the home, some fun furniture, and especially some fun curtains and bedspreads. Pam, ever since I saw your post on blue toile, I hunted the net for a blue toile swag for the kitchen. Good luck with that! Oh, you've have to eventually have a store in Ontario so I could shop there. Or, really good shipping rates from your online shop.
There's a store in N-O-T-L that sells French soaps, and pretty little luxuries. They play French music, so it's all very romantic feeling when you walk in.

  11. I could not agree more dear friend....you know perhaps why all the stark and boxy styles is because of our technology..I think we have become a techno society with not enough concern shown for the comforts of home....a hand written note....home backed cookies...soft pink in our homes...a phone call instead of an e-mail.

It is kind of strange to me tho......that we meet so many kindred spirits with like minds through a technological source, i.e. our computers....Kind of wierd....! Oh well.....I guess if it works. (O:(O:

  12. You've got your pinks and I've got my reds. Don't quite understand the grays and browns and such. But hey, it's a big world. I need a little sparkle and shine in mine too.

  13. Hi Pamela, I have the best of both worlds...The big brown sofa and lazy boy chair in the living room...with the big TV, then, the floral sofa and loveseat in front of the fireplace in the family room. The funny thing is, I prefer the living room with my guys, then spending time in the the pretty room alone! Your home is beautiful! Love, Penny

  15. Isn't it great to be in our 40's when we are confident enough to be true to ourselves? I love this post Pamela! You are so right in everything you say!! Have you ever noticed my pink bike beneath my profile with the wicker basket and flower? My husband bought it for me!!! I LOVE it and I feel so happy riding it around town....I have even had women my age say "Love your bike" when I drive by. Unfortunately, my 14 yr.old daughter is going through the 'conform and don't be different' stage right now and would not be caught dead with me on my pink bike...but my 9 yr. old doesn't care! He will ride with me...but I know in a few years he won't think it so cool to ride with his mama. I love your spirit and style! Angie xoxo

  16. Great post Pamela! I absolutely love being feminine and have no problem showing my feminine side. I am not a pink kind of gal but every now and then something pink strikes my fancy. Like you, being feminine does not stop me from donning my hiking boots and climbing mountains. Nor did it ever stop me from joining my boys in any of their adventures. The most feminine rooms in my house are my master bedroom (well it will be when it is finally done) and my office.

  18. Great post! I'm not much of a pink girl myself, but I do love your pink ruffled pillow and the rose painting. I wear pink a bit but don't have much of it around the house. I so agree that there is a boxiness and sterileness in most of the decor out there.
