I know i have a few (or maybe more) mememtos that
have special meanings and ties to the past . They all hold something special
whether it be from some great event in our life or it just evokes a wonderful
childhood memory.
This silver Victorian heart was a favour from my wedding. All the ladies who attended
my special day received one. I of course kept a heart and round ball for myself...
Silk flowers from my cousin Karen's (at Ow my Agnst blog) wedding. They were part
of her table centerpiece and i won them that night!
My mother's Roman Missal that she carried down the aisle covered in flowers when
she married my dad...
And lastly when my dad passed away my step-mother asked me what i wanted of my
dad's and i did not even hesitate when i said his old dog book!
I can still picture him reading this beloved book of his when i was a child. He was a huge
dog lover and raised Labrador Retriever's. This dog statue was also his. Everytime i look
at it i am comforted by memories of my wonderful dad...
Do you have any favourite mememtos?
Thanks for visiting!
Pamela xo
Awwwwwww... these are all so sweet. I love the dog statue with your dad's book, wow..., that's kind of powerful with the noble doggie sitting on the book...

I keep the memories too! I love looking and being able to touch something a dear one gone (or far away) had touched! It keeps us connected and somehow comforted! Thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Beautiful mementos! I love things like that too. I'm very sentimental. One of my favorites is a little pitcher that my grandmother saved up for when she was a child. I'd like to think I inherited some of my love for decor from her. Most children would have saved for a toy but not Beatrice. How I miss her!
ReplyDeleteNice to catch up with you. Hope all is well!
Pam, that was great. I remember that you had kept the flowers from my wedding. What really touched me was the dog book though. Somehow that really gets me. Everyone who knew Uncle Bob had to have known what a dog lover he was. I do miss him.
ReplyDeleteThe silver Victorian heart is wonderful. I just love treasures that are passed down to us from the ones we love. I still have the postcard from my husband that I got in the mail when I was 16 before we met, and Jess brought me back some rosary beads from the Vatican that I will cherish forever. Your mother's Roman Missal is just beautiful.

Pamela,
ReplyDeletePamela,
Oh...your Dad's book and Lab figure just touched my heart. I remember you telling me about how he raised and trained Labs. I wish you and your family well.

Those are great mementos. I have a silver friendship ball like yours that a friend gave me. The book and figurine that remind you of your dad are beautiful. Have a fabulous Friday! Tammy
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post Pamela, such precious memories to share.
ReplyDeleteThankyou.
Thanks for sharing your precious mementos and memories with us! I have a few things that are special like that, but not many.
ReplyDeleteAw Pamela, such beautiful memories and mementos! I love the silver heart and ball...what a lovely gift for your guests. I can't think of mementos off the top of my head, but I have MANY. I don't get rid of anything! Oh dear, the day we ever move. LOL
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty mementos you have Pamela. They really do help us to remember. I have a few favorite ones from my dad who passed away over 12 years ago. It's fun to look at them and remember all the good times.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
Hope all is well in your part of the world friend!

The silver heart is beautiful
ReplyDeleteThe dog statue and book are such wonderful mementos of your Dad. I save way too many mementos. Especially from my son. I have boxes and boxes of stuff that he will never care about when he's older (like his first Christmas Eve pajamas). Hope you're having a great weekend and have some time off work to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI never had parents so I try to find things for my daughter that other people have cherished. It may seem hokey, but I love the history of the pieces I buy. There is a connection to each person we meet. The table by my bedside is a beautiful empire style entry table we bought from a woman named Charlotte. We simply refer to it as "Charlotte's table". It gives me comfort to know these items were cherished in family homes!
ReplyDeleteHi dear - been missing for a while but since getting back from Calif. I'm catching up on your pretty posts!
ReplyDeleteLovely mementos - and yes I have my share of special things scattered through the cottage - they always bring joy!
Hugs - Mary
It is not the costly items that we cherish but the little mementos that cause a tug at our hearts.
ReplyDeleteThe dog book is priceless.

I have a little jewelry box that my sister bought me from her very first overseas trip. She went to Majorca. I almost put the box in a pile of yard sale stuff the other day but I just couldn't do it. I remember I was so excited when she brought it home to me because it meant that my big sister was thinking of me when she was on her exciting trip!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteSaw your blog listed on Diane's blog visits (Lavender Dreams) and thought I would say hello. I love all your special things...especially the heart. How wonderful to have all these memories! I will have to explore your blog and read some of your other postings. Love the script you use! SO pretty! I have a blog, too, and have posted photos of my dining room transformation with red paint that my husband and I did over the weekend. Stop by and visit with me in my dining room if you get a chance. Would love to know how you like it. Have a beautiful day today. I'll visit again! xoxo Kim
