No one makes a real gooey greasy cheesy Italian American pizza like the border towns of
Niagara Falls , ON and Niagara Fall NY (well okay Fort Erie ON and Buffalo, NY)
This is due to the fact that these places have a large Italian population. I miss my Sammy's, Franks
and Pappa's alot!
Just as much as i love to decorate i love to cook! So after much complaining to my hubby
about the horrible pizza available here and not even being able to find dough....he said
MAKE YOUR OWN!! So i did and have many times....
I am quite proud of myself for making my own dough
It turns out perfectly every time...
Next is the homemade pizza sauce which was not hard considering i make my own
pasta sauce every week...
Grated cheese...lots of it too...
Lots of pepperoni....sometimes i add mushrooms
Mmmm...there she is ...all hot ...gooey...cheesy just the way i like it!!
By the time my husband and son get through with it... this is whats left !
It might not be Franks or Sammys but we love it just the same!

Pizza is my favorite food and always has been. We do have a couple of good places here. We just found a new one called Napoli's Italian Restaurant and they have the best crust and toppings. Yours looks great. My Italian dil makes her own dough of course.
ReplyDeleteI grew up just across the NY state border in PA. I must say that NY state has the corner on the best pizza ever. I have eaten pizza in Buffalo many times and it was always great-Your own looks pretty darned good! Diana

ReplyDeleteGood for you making your own dough Pamela! Your pizza looks great! I started our Friday Pizza and Movie night tradition when my boys were very young. We too make our own dough and sauce. My youngest son now makes the dough on nights I am going to be late.

ReplyDeletedang, that looked good. My brother makes homemade pizza all the time, but has yet to invite me over for some! I've made it as well, but have never been too fussy on my crust. Apparently bread flour makes a big difference.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm! There really is nothing like the pizza in our towns. That is the one thing I hear constantly from people who have moved away, they can not find good pizza. I like your solution. Your pizza looks just like the kind my mom used to make for us. Oh I miss her pizza. What a gift to your family to make them homemade pizza.

Your pizza looks so yummy! I've never made pizza from scratch and I'm afraid to - cause then we may not like using the pre-made crusts anymore and we need to use them so we can make a fast dinner on Fridays. I think it is something I will save for when I retire.
