This is a really easy dish and it is very economical. It takes no time to
prepare and it is not from a box.
1pkg of Cream cheese
2Cups of milk
1 tsp Dijon Mustard ( i use the grainy one)
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese (you can use mild or medium)
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup of butter
salt and pepper
package of Penne noodles
For the topping:
3 tbsp melted butter
1/4 Italian seasoned breadcrumbs (don't use plain too boring)
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Melt butter in heavy pot. Whisk in flour till smooth.
On medium to low heat whisk in milk then add cream cheese, Dijon mustard,
salt & pepper
whisk till cream cheese has melted and no lumps.
Turn off heat and add grated cheese into melted sauce. Stir
till completely melted.
Cook Penne noodles according to package directions
I want to note here that I use Penne noodles
because they are so wonderful in holding
the delicious sauce inside. When you bite into
the noodle you get a burst of sauce
Make topping
Melt 3 tbsp butter
Add 1/4 Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
and 2 tbsp grated Parmesan
Mix well
Once noodles are cooked add
them to the pot of sauce
and stir till all is nicely mixed.
Grease a casserole dish
add noodles and sprinkle
breadcrumb mixture to the top.
Bake in 400 degree oven
for 20 minutes only
Easy...simple...yummy!!
Enjoy!!

Wow! This looks delicious! I think I am going to try all of your recipes. We have a family recipe of M&C from my hub's mother, but our daughters never liked it so I never made it much, but it didn't look like yours.

ReplyDeleteHey, do you want to submit this to Presto Pasta Nights this week? I am hosting and there are details on my blog. I'd love to add it to the round up on Friday, thanks!
I love homemade mac n' cheese. It really is easy and beats the heck out of any of the box varieties. Your recipe sounds very similar to mine. Now that it is on my mind, I will have to add it to next week's menu!

looks delicious Pam--can you ever go wrong with mac & cheese??? Oh! I almost forgot to tell you that my sister made your muffin recipe a few days ago, and I got to sample some. They were super yummy!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know my husband asked me to make the macaroni and cheese again - one of his co-workers passed away and he wanted to take something to the family's house. He asked for your Macaroni and cheese - I think this is going to be something I make more and more!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
