Spring really begins in February on Vancouver Island. We are about 4 months ahead
of the rest of Canada. Maybe even more considering Eastern Canada was hit with another
ghastly snowstorm. My girlfriend posted about the snow on face book. I have to say
that cured my homesickness instantly!
My collection of bunnies are starting to come out of hiding. I love bunnies but
even more now that i have my son. He was born in the year of the Rabbit so
bunnies are very special now...hence the growing collection...
This pretty basket my son made me a few years ago for Easter. It is made from
string. I love it. Especially the blue lace he chose for the top...
Here in the Cowichan Valley where i live (not Vancouver ...everyone thinks Vancouver
is Vancouver Island...it's not. Vancouver is the mainland. ) the school board give
the kids two weeks for spring break.
I guess it is a mixed blessing especially if you are a working parent.
We did not go away this year. So yesterday I took Sam to the Royal BC Museum.
It was a wonderful day with so much to see and learn about...
Yes these are stuffed owls..beautiful..they had so many varieties of birds ...
We viewed Canada's claim to fame ...The famous Emily Carr...
her artwork is sensational...
i disappeared...yuk!
Tomorrow is his last day of Spring Break ...my last chance to try
and beat him to a game of chess...the kid's been creaming me at the game!!
Until next time...sending lots of green to my Eastern Canadian(and American) friends!!
Pamela xo
Hi Pamela! It sounds like you had a lovely day! I love spring/Easter decorations, and I don't really think I have that many...Ooo that means shopping! LOL. I love your bunnies and other spring decorations. We've been so much cooler and windy, that I haven't been outside much, but it's supposed to be better next week. Looks like Sam had fun, I would have left when he got to the spiders! Happy weekend! I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday! Yea!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are enjoying your spring break- we just had another 6" of snow here! Love your charming spring decorations! Thanks so much for your sweet comments about my spring mantel!
ReplyDeleteI laughed when you said you disapeared when you got to the snakes. I don't remember that part at all so, I must have buried myself in the old town... glad you had a nice spring break.
ReplyDeleteGreat easter basket Pam! I love collections and Bunnies are the best!
ReplyDeleteWe have had a few days of spring! We are so excited to feel the warmth!
Have a great finish to spring break.
Lovely Easter inspiration. Thank-you! I have to admit I thought Vancouver Island was somehow linked to Vancouver. I have visited Vancouver before, but maybe wasn't paying enough attention. I think I will have to get my atlas out! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the bunny and the Easter basket. It sounds like you had fun ~ those owls are awsome ! Happy Spring ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just has her college spring break...it goes by so fast. She slept and worked a lot so we didn't have a lot of time together.
ReplyDeleteYour son looks like he is really enjoying the museum. I love going to places like this where I can learn something. How fun!
I'm glad your weather is warming up. We are still having some snow now and then and a lot of rain. Temps are very low...brrrrr!
XO,
Jane
Looks like you had a wonderful time Pamela! We only get 1 week of Spring Break here and we are having a great time. My son is in kindergarten (full day) and I've missed him so much! We are trying to do all of our favorite things this week like we used to - it's been so much fun! It's going to rain today so we just might go down the the BC Museum, thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific time you had! Oh those owls ~ aren't they beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your bunny and egg collection. I can't believe it's time to bring out the Easter stuff. I love all the colors.
I am so jealous of your weather Pamela! I think I need to pack my bags and move to BC. The snow in Southwest Saskatchewan is a drag!! With predictions of more this weekend... sigh....
Well if you could be a dear and just bottle me up a little bit of sun and send it on out to me?...please?
Hope your son enjoys his last day of spring break!
Happy Weekend Pamela!
xo Catherine
Wow, two weeks for spring break. Only one around here. What a great day with your son. I love seeing owls in person. They are so pretty. Enjoy your last day together!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guy's had a great time yesterday Pamela! Please send some spring weather my way!! Yesterday we woke up to snow, only 2 inches and by the time the sun came out it all melted! Love your bunny and basket. Enjoy your weekend, Martina
ReplyDeleteLove the bunnies and all your Easter decor. It is my favorite time to decorate, too. We have had a few nice days in a row so I'm starting to think that Spring is here. The sun is warm and I'll take that and stay quiet. Enjoy those times with your son as it goes quickly and then they are on their own. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5
ReplyDeleteYour son is so cute! He favors you alot. Our spring break is week after next. Seems late to me but at least it should be warm. All of your bunny decor is adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Friday!
Tammy
Anxiously waiting for spring like weather here in Eastern Canada. Still quite "white" here.
ReplyDeleteI love bunnies too!
Jeannette

Hi Pamela, Sounds like a great spring break with your son and great memories for him. What a precious keepsake basket from him. I've got to get my bunnies out :).
ReplyDeleteHappy spring to you!
~ Julie
Up in Port Alberni, we only had one week of spring break, which is a good thing as far as my Grade 1 daughter is concerned-she loves school! I love the museum here. One of my favorite day trips is walking around the inner harbor in Victoria, and going to the museum! Oh, am I going to miss this island (and the early spring!!!).
ReplyDeleteYour handsome son made you a very sweet Easter basket! That's nice that he gets a 2 week spring break. I don't know of anywhere else in Canada that does that. The nasty snow missed the Maritimes but it's not very warm here even in the sunshine. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh I loved taking my children to museums - especially the interactive ones - to the park.... so many places - now I am waiting - patiently for grandchildren to read to, to play games with to take to these marvelous places - by the smile on your son's face it looks like he had a memorable day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
God Bless,
Kathy
That must have been a fun day!! But c'mon, snakes are coooool... lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat Spring Break. Ours isn't for another two weeks...going to Paris!
ReplyDeleteSam seems like a fun date!
nice pictures Pam! Glad you had fun at the museum. I must be a spoiled modernist jerk because they bore me to freaking tears
ReplyDeleteOhhh how nice and green you guys have it all the way over there! here in Toronto its still snow snow snow... -.- What a nice day you must have had. I love the plate... its beautiful, the bunny is sooo cute. and the Easter basket is of course most beautiful (made by your special man) ;) Wish you well!
ReplyDeleteHugs
My son's Spring Break isn't until the week after Easter. Seems like so far away! I have to admit that I thought Vancouver was on Vancouver island. I'm pretty geographically challenged though. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteI think you have caught Spring Fever!
The Bunnies are precious. I love your arrangement with the Hyacinth's and the eggs!
The Royal BC Museum is beautiful...I would like to visit it one day. It appears that it houses a perfect mix of art, science and history. What a grand day for you and Sam!

I have a nice little collection. I have always loved them. I will have to see if any of my kids/grands are the year of the rabbit now!
ReplyDeleteI love the painting French Rabbits and have a canvas copy in my dining room..along with a pair of rabbits on my mantle that stay out all year! I love that you are showing some Spring there. Hugs-Diana

Hi Pamela,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day you shared with your son! And he made such a cute Easter basket for you.
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my kitchen!
- Susan
It looks like your son had fun. I am glad to hear you had a nice break with your son. We do not have our break until the week after Easter, a long time for the kids to wait, but the good thing is that the weather should be better by then, just mud though. I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLove...love your blog. I am a Canadian living in Singapore and your blog gives me a glimpse of home from a very different place than Canada. Thank you!
ReplyDeletewow, 2 weeks vacation is a long time! so, you don't like snakes?? me either! your son is a cutie!
