Restoration Hardware

The other day i was visiting a new blog and she had a link to Restoration Hardware. I wish

i never clicked on it!

Have you checked out this place?

If you haven't don't!

If you are like

me you'll be swooning all day and hate everything you own and want to redo all your rooms.

Then you will realise that it is impossible to do this because you are not married to Bill G...

anyways i saw this gorgeous baker's rack and just wanted it sooo badly in my kitchen.

So this is the story of my life... i constantly make do with what i have or improvise with junk

laying around to try and get the look i am after. Sometimes it works sometimes it just

leaves me crazy.

My husband has all these cheap wire racks left over from our last home. This one in particular

was in a spare empty closet doing nothing. So i made it into my own version of

the baker's rack without paying $1000!!

I am really liking the look...it says french to me!

If you are up to the challenge click here... Restoration Hardware and check out this

amazing place. But warning it may cause decorating anxiety!

I also want to thank all of you for your inspiring creative suggestions and wonderful

advice on my brass coffee table! After much thought i am keeping it like it is...

plus i heard brass is back! I just won't clean it ...i prefer the non-polished looked!!

Today i am joining Sherry at No Minimalist Here for her Open House Party!!

  2. This looks excellent Pamela! I really like it! I will take my chances and go visit this site.

Hey... wait... you have a 'spare empty closet' in your house? Can I send you some of my stuff to store for me??? ;)

    Happy Sunday friend!

  3. Oo I can't wait to go look at that site! I'm always looking at my miss mash of stuff and wish it was something else, oh well I can dream can't I? I like your bakers rack in your kitchen. I have one in a storage area, but it's silver and doesn't really look "pretty"

  5. We have a Restoration Hardware in town and it's fun to walk around and see their displays. A bit too expensive for my thrift store taste though. Your version of the baker's rack is awesome. Can't believe you had that hidden in a closet.

  6. Restoration hardware is awesome and very much an inspiration. Their prices however are just not NORMAL for the average person. I love that rack, in fact I had one I spray painted in my kitchen for a long time until I found a painted piece of furniture I fell in love with. You have it displayed so nice.

  7. Bravo! It looks terrific! In order to get the look I am always wanting I would have to move to the French countryside! I feel this way about RH just seeing ads in mags!

  8. I adore Restoration Hardware and have often used it for inspiration for our home, my Husband is oh so glad we don't have one in England! It's such a 'grown up' French look isn't it? I love the over-scaled items, they really add drama. I love your embossed wine cooler! Gorgeous post Pamela thank you! Warmest wishes - Glenda xxx

  10. Wow Pamela - your version looks as though it is straight out of a French decor magazine. I love it! And the painting behind it is just perfect. Is that a Mauviel copper saucepan? I also love your bottle full of corks. I bet you enjoy adding to it every now and again! LOL Have a lovely day

  12. Did you know that there is a Restoration Hardware just a short ferry ride away, in Vancouver? Oh, and just accross the street is Pottery Barn. It's shopping heaven. One perk of my move to AB is that these stores are a mere 20-30 min away-wait, maybe that isn't such a good thing afterall!

  14. Hi Pamela,
I just love your baker's rack! The way you accessorized it with the chickesn, wine bottles and the copper pot really say "The South of France" to me! It looks straight out of a kitchen in Provance! I've never been to Restoration Hardware before, but I will be sure to check it out. Oh, and I love how improvise with what you already have on hand! Anyone can go out and buy something brand new for big $$$$$, but it takes true talent to make the most of what you already have!!!

  22. Well, you do know how to fancy your junk up ever so nicely! I know what you mean about decorating anxiety. I'm the same way but then I think about all the stuff which has come and gone out of my house. And it's just that. Stuff. All the things we think we want will be history tomorrow.
Love the way you decorated your baker's rack!

  29. Pamela, you have not looked at RH before? Wow! I ordered a grain sack pillow from them not long ago and I went to the outlet a couple months ago. The smaller white canvas pillow with large letters on it on my bed is from there. I wish I could afford more of their things.

  30. Hi Pamela, I love that you take the lovely things you have and make them even more beautiful. The french inspired style is wonderful for your rack. I also want to comment on your brass table. When I was a very little girl my father was stationed in Japan and we could not go because it was too close to Russian and the Cuban Missle Crisis was in full swing. Daddy brought back a gorgeous brass table, very much like yours. Your table could be quite old. My sister has this fabulous table. She has not retouched it, but does polish it from time to time. These tables are true treasures. Does your top and bottom come apart. I have seen it hanging on the wall as a large piece of wall art and as a shield covering a fireplace in the summer. It is stunning!!!!
Whatever you do, make sure it can be undone. I think this piece will give your room a collected over time look that is so rich.
Lucky you! What a real treasure!

  34. I also catch myself drooling over RH catalogs. Love that industrial look sometimes! Great job re-using that shelving unit for your purposes, Pamela. I can totally relate with you on trying to mimic a 'look' for much less $ and with what I already own. Cheers to thriftiness!

  35. I am only back for a few hours, but your rack looks wonderful! It is amazing what we can do with what we have!

  36. Hi Pamela, I have been on that RH site too its drool city! Your Baker's rack looks great, just like Ina Garten has in her pantry. The brass table... you can actually buy a chemical that gives brass a patina, an aged finish, you can get a black sort of finish or a bronze one. I used to use it when painting furniture, to age handles and hinges. Its easy to use, you just paint it on and it oxidizes in the air and dries pretty quick. The only trouble is I can't remember what it's called. If I can get any more info I'll let you know. Thankyou so much for visiting and following me, I very much appreciate it. I enjoyed your cat and dog stories in your latest post also. Have a lovely weekend, love Linda x

Love how you have accessorized it too.
I too love the Restoration Hardware catalogs.... but have they gotten extra pricey or is it just me?
Love the weathered table in the photo you posted from their catalog. I need another house!

  38. Oh my goodness Pamela! You did a fabulous job styling that Baker's Rack...it is just perfect in every way! Did you paint it black or was it black already? We have a Restoration Hardware that opened last fall in Edmonton. I have yet to visit it because the it's pretty but also very pricey...and kind of out of my price range! Your creativity just shows that we don't need money...we just need imagination and determination! Angie xo
