Rain Chains

Hello Everyone!! It's seems like forever since my last post and i am so far behind on my
visits to all of you. This working sure has thrown my life for a huge loop...don't know if i like
that or not. Thank goodness i have an amazing husband who does it all at home for me!
Father's Day he made us all breakfast and then because i had to work on his special day
he made the dinner too! Such a good , good man !!

I wanted to share with you something that is really cool here on alot of the homes on
Vancouver Island. Rain chains!! When i first moved here i had no idea what these chains where
that are coming down from the house instead of downspouts...
Some creative soul out there thought of this i guess to make all that rain we get in the fall
more enjoyable.
This is a brand new home that is for sale here. I won't even tell you the price.
These rain chains come in all kinds of designs.... I have seen flowers, buckets
and plain chain styles.

Isn't this fun? I will have to get some more photos of homes with them.

I just love them!

Well i am off to work and i hope to be visiting all of you very soon!!

  2. I love them! We see them once in a while on an older home here. I think maybe they are a throw back to the time before they had rain gutters/spouts? Whatever era they are from I love them. We saw some that were like little bells and actually made kind of a tinkling noise. I would love to see more of them!

I know what you mean- it is hard getting into that work loop, isn't it? And having to let some things go..thank goodness you have a helpful husband...my own? Not so much. He had a Mom & Grandmom that waited on him hand and foot. Not good...thank goodness I raised my boys differently than that! xo Diana

  8. Hi Pamela, it's nice to see you on here. I saw these at Winners recently but didn't know what they are for. What a neat idea! Do they make a pretty sound when it rains? I must see if there are any left. Take care and Blessings to you. Pamela

  9. Hello Pamela!

I love that rain chain! It certainly does look much better than the typical rain gutters. I need to add a rain gutters, spouts and barrels to my house and I am going to look into getting a rain chain. That is a great looking house. I like the combination of stone and wood.

    Hugs,
    Tracy

    What a great looking house

  10. Hello Pamela! Our neigbour has them - they sound so nice when the rain falls on them too. They are expensive though aren't they? We need some serious DIYer to make some knock offs eh?? Ha ha ha...

  13. A husband that cooks? Oh my ~ you are a lucky woman my friend!!

How fun are those rain chains? I totally want one. We have certainly been having enough rain to use them. But, I guess I should not complain. We are not flooding and our grass truly has never looked better!!

Sigh... this working for a living... it's for the birds... :(

    Take care Pamela!!

  15. Yea! I'm so glad you finally did a post on these rain chains! That house is beautiful, and the rain chain looks so pretty...love the close up shot. I would love to have a house like that! It's such a beautiful style.
I still have my rain chain in my courtyard, but sadly it never really sees any rain. Funny, a rain chain in the desert. LOL!
Lovely post Pamela! Thanks for sharing!

  18. I saw a rain chain at Home goods and wasn't sure what the point of them was...it was copper circles. Does it make a pretty sound, or keep the rain from splashing or what?

  19. I love rain chains, and in fact brought ours from home, to Alberta. I know we don't get as much rain here, but I love the look of them! I've actually seen them for sale here too, but for much more money. Glad I brought ours =))

  23. I hope you had a good day at work, my friend.
Aren't the chains a good idea? I am thinking we need that here in Winnipeg, the Prairies are literally floating away we have had so much precipitation this last year. There are floods this year where people have never had floods before. Not here in Winnipeg, though, thank the Lord, lots of rain, but the river is back to nearly normal.

  24. That is so cool! I have never ever heard of a rain chain! I'm so happy to learn something new. And... I know, working is good, but it is hard when you don't have enough time to do other things you love. Hopefully you will find that balance. I love my job, but i wish i could work a 4 day week, and find that balance for myself too. I'll be following to see how it all works out for you...

  25. Heard of them but never seen them in this area - these are very attractive. Of course right now it's been ages since we've had a raindrop, let alone enough to actually make music on a chain..........another year of drought conditions in the making I fear.

Take care now your schedule is so hectic - hope it all works out for you dear.
    Hugs - Mary
