The hunt for the perfect sofa...

My husband and i are on the look out for that "perfect " sofa. You see we have had at least four sofas in the last say sixteen years that we've been together but there has always been something not quite right with any of them. Either two high or two low or arms way too big and just plain uncomfortable...sound familiar? I have this ideal sofa and what it feels like in my head but i never seem to get the right one. The last sofa we bought i had thought i finally picked the right one. I liked the fabric and design and was sure it would look perfect in our brand new home. When it arrived and we placed it in our great room i asked my son what he thought. He said the pattern looks like it has mini dolphins all over it! Oh god that was it! I hated it from that day forward. Leave it to a seven year old to point out a design flaw. When we sold the house i gladly sold the sofa as well. Now we are to be moving to another home in two weeks and we will need a sofa. I have decided i will really take my time...research different styles...decide on colour and if i want a pattern but most importantly i will be taking my son to make sure there are no strange characters lurking in the shadows! I love this first one. I love the white painted wood and the shape but i know my husband will say forget it because he can't lie on it.

Ditto for this little beauty...but i just love it! Maybe for the dining room as an extra. Alot of people swear by slipped cover white sofas. I really like the look of them and they seem to be very comfortable which is the number one thing i am looking for.

I had to sneak this one in. Look at the curves and i love the orange...i know most will hate the colour!

I am really drawn to the traditional sofa. It doesn't seem to date and i finally want a sofa to stay around for a good many years. Lastly i do not want to pay a fortune for one either. Any of you thrifters out there ever come across the perfect sofa??
This sofa is very inviting. It looks comfy and squishy. I love the shape and really like the wood legs which is a feature i am after. The pattern is probably a bit much i would perfer a plain fabric then my son is not bound to find some strange creature in the design.

This sofa is on the contemporary side but it appealed to me because of its narrow arms which is more comfortable. The shape of this sofa is very neat and tidy and that perfectly describes my husband. There are no cushions on the bottom for him to daily fluff and fuss about...but i can add some pretty pillows to perk it up.

And lastly the old stand by classic camel back sofa. No i don't think i will consider this one. It does not look to comfy or family friendly. This would go well in a formal space but not what i am looking for.
Thanks for shopping with me...hope you had fun!

  4. Hi Pamela, I am so glad you popped over from Melissa's blog to visit me. Oh I am in love with the perfect petite extra couch for the dinning room. I am also a firm believer of the slipcovered couch and I know my husband would agree with yours. You have to be able to lay down, and for us 3 kids have to fit, without touching each other. I am now a follower of yours, how could I not, buttons in the name, I love buttons. Have a great day.

  5. I fed the fish, but I think they are a little intimidated being so close to the cats.
